Bicycle recycling

Give your old bicycle new life at the Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency. We accept used bicycles from Linn County residents free of charge.

Start by evaluating your bicycle. If it's in fairly good condition, consider donating it to a local resale shop or thrift store. If it's not repairable, bring it to one of our two locations.

What happens to my bicycle after I drop it off for recycling?

Bicycles dropped off for recycling are given back free to residents who want to fix them up or find other uses for them. Bicycles that are not claimed locally are sent away for repairs and then donated to developing nations where they are a main form of transportation.

Bicycles that can't be refurbished or used for parts can be recycled for their frames and tires.
