Solid Waste Agency and Science Station Give Bottles Flight
On Saturday, February 11th, students and parents who attending the Science Station's Flight the Green Way program had the opportunity to make reclaimed water bottles fly. After learning about the four forces of flight and participating in a demonstration with model airplanes, the families were given the task to construct a rubberband powered water bottle "plane." With help from the Agency's Educator, the water bottles took flight and traveled down the fishing line to demonstrate thrust, which is a required principle of flight. The Agency's Educator will be posting a short YouTube video in the near future describing the construction of this "flying water bottle," so check in from time to time.
A special thanks to Box-Kar Hobbies for helping acquire the propellers and support the program.
