History
The Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency is an intergovernmental agency created in 1994 through Iowa Code Chapter 28E when the City of Cedar Rapids and Linn County combined resources. Other Linn County communities joined as Associate Members. All Linn County residents and businesses are welcome to use any Agency service.
Board of Directors
Solid Waste Agency activities are governed by a nine member board of directors comprised of local elected or appointed officials. The board typically meets at 1:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month. Public input and participation is welcome.

Agency Staff
Agency employees include administrative staff, scale house workers, equipment operators, mechanics, and recycling attendants who are certified or trained to carry out the Agency mission. In addition, contracts with engineers, landscape architects, soil scientists and other professionals provide environmental and technical expertise to the Agency.
Services & Programs Include:
The Agency is one of six solid waste organizations in Iowa selected to implement an Environmental Management System. EMS broadens Agency environmental activities. In addition to waste reduction and recycling, EMS includes improving water quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The Agency continues to research and implement alternative strategies to landfilling. The newest endeavor is the wood products recovery program for biomass fuel.
